Attorney Gary R. Khachian is a member of the Firm whose practice encompassed Real Estate Law, Civil Litigation and Default Solutions. He has over 30 years of experience in civil litigation in the area of foreclosures, evictions and creditors’ rights. His clients include individuals, small businesses and financial service firms.
Attorney Khachian’s practice is primarily concentrated in the area of residential real estate closings, having closed on over several thousand transactions over the past 20 years. He enjoys working with first time buyers as well as individuals with more experience – spending an equal amount of time on sales, purchases and refinance transactions. He handles most matters himself , relying on staff only with regard to clerical and procedural matters. Gary encourages clients to take their time in making decisions, to ask any and all questions that are of concern to them. He prides himself on keeping in close communication with each client and spending as much time with them, both over the phone or in person, as they need.
Prior to the pandemic, he spent a great deal of time handling foreclosures and evictions as well. He is well-known among the Connecticut Housing Court for his ability to obtain judgments for his clients while, at the same time, showing fairness and compassion to tenants who are facing eviction. In addition, he has handled a several hundred foreclosure actions primarily as a representative of banking institutions. He has been able to successfully resolve a vast majority of these cases through mediation, thereby saving clients time and cost of further litigation. He has consistently received praise from adversaries, judges and mediators, who report that he treats homeowners with dignity and respect and is able to visualize and implement creative solutions to each individual case.
A Fairfield native and Darien resident, Mr. Khachian is active the Greater Norwalk business and social communities. He graduated from Brown University and Suffolk Law School (with honors). Additionally, Gary worked for Cambridge, Massachusetts First Selectman William Walsh, while attending law school. Prior to that, he served as personal assistant to U.S. Senator Christopher J. Dodd from 1983-85. Before entering private practice, Attorney Khachian clerked for the Presiding Judge of the Stamford Superior Court – Honorably William B. Lewis. At the firm of Ryan, Ryan and Deluca he specialized in representing other lawyers, who had been sued in legal malpractice actions. He has traveled to ancestral homeland of Armenia to volunteer for earthquake relief in 1989 and to work with the Fuller Center for Global Building in 2014.
Gary and his wife Ani, a jewelry designer, have three grown sons and are members of the St. Gregory the Enlightener Church in White Plains, NY. He is an accomplished tennis player and former teaching professional.
